Privacy Policy
Hands Down was built around one promise: your camera is yours. This page describes exactly what we do and do not collect, in plain language.
Your video never leaves your device
Detection runs entirely in your browser using models bundled with the page. Camera frames are read in memory and discarded. No video, image, frame, or face landmark data is ever recorded, saved, or transmitted anywhere, and we have no technical ability to see your camera. You can confirm this yourself: open your browser's developer tools and watch the network tab while monitoring.
What we store
Account data. Your email address and a securely hashed password, held by our self-hosted identity service. We use your email to verify your account and for essential service messages only. We do not send marketing email.
Usage aggregates. When a nudge happens, we store when it happened, how long it lasted, which watch zone it was, and flags you set (false alarm, driving). This is the data behind your Trends and Journey views.
Settings and notes. Your watch-zone settings and any day notes or reflections you choose to write.
Purchase records. If you buy the unlock, we store the Stripe checkout session id, the amount, and the purchase time. Payment is processed by Stripe; your card details never touch our servers.
What we do not do
No advertising, no ad networks, no analytics trackers, no selling or sharing of data with third parties, no profiling. The only third parties involved are Stripe (payment processing, under its own privacy policy) and our hosting providers, which serve the site and store the data described above.
Where data lives and how long
The site is served from a content delivery network. Account and usage data live on servers we operate. Data is kept while your account exists. Delete your account and your data goes with it.
Your choices
You can export your data (CSV and JSON) from the Trends view with the unlock, reclassify or delete recorded events in the app, and request account deletion at any time by emailing support@tryhandsdown.com. We answer deletion requests within 30 days.
Children
Hands Down is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
